Gossip

Gossip is a fearful thing.
How fearful? It can destroy you invisibly with merely words.
Same like rumor, it is like a favorite weapon of the assassins of character.

Have you ever play the information passing game?
The game goes like this:

  1. An information in written on a piece of paper which only the writer can see it (the paper will be reveal to everyone at the end of the game).
  2. The writer will pass the information which he/she has written on the paper to another person through whispering.
  3. Once the person has received the information from the write, he/she has to do the same (whisper the information) to another person next to him/her.
  4. Let say there is 10 people in the game. The tenth/the last person has to say out loud to everyone in the game about the information that he/she received.
  5. The writer will reveal the piece of paper to everyone in the game.
  6. You will see the difference between the original information and what the last person heard.

Those who talk about the gossip, they tend to add something new on the gossip and spread it out.
Those who hear about the gossip, they tend to make enlargement on it.
Misinformation and disinformation occur.
How many percentage of what you heard is the fact/the real thing?

It is human’s nature to gossip.
I am a normal human being too.
I seldom gossip but if I do, I gossip with my own principle.
I never trust the teller (third parties who spread the gossip) but the tale (words from the person concerned).
I would not witness with my mouth for what I don’t see with my eyes.

“A gossip is one who talks to you about others; a bore is one who talks to you about himself; and a brilliant conversationalist is one who talks to you about yourself.” – Lisa Kirk

One Response to Gossip

  1. Gossipping can destroy lives especially if its hurtful information. No one is perfect so we really have to watch what we say. I can never trust telling the 3rd party because they will always tell. Its like putting a kid in a candy store-THE TEMPTATION IS OVERWHELMING!
