Tomi Japanese Restaurant

It is about food again! Am I going to turn this blog into a food blog? I am not picky in food and I like to taste new food. But sometimes I do criticise what I eat because I have a tongue that can taste food in detail!  Today I have my dinner at Tomi Japanese Restaurant, a Japanese restaurant located in Ipoh. Here we go!

The restaurant is located behind Tesco shopping center. Next to the restaurant is a Korean restaurant.
The Menu

The Menu

Let see what food I have tasted for the night……

Ala Carte

Ala Carte

Chawanmushi (steamed egg) – kind of watery.
Cheese Korokke (cheese and mashed potato blended together to fry) – it was more like fried potato. Hardly can taste the taste of the cheese.
Cucumber (cucumber, eel, prawn meat, and fish roe rolled together) – this dish is a bit special. You may want to try it.
Age Gyoza (chicken dumplings) – it was juicy. But the taste is not compatible to the chicken gyoza from Zanmai Sushi.
Miso Soup – it was an ordinary miso soup. Every customer get this for free (free green tea too).

Grill Food

Grill Food

Yaki Tori (grilled chicken) and Tori Kawa (grilled chicken skin) – light taste for both.

Tempura

Tempura

Ebi-ten (prawn tempura) and Yasai-ten (vegetables tempura) – ordinary tempura that you can eat in every Japanese restaurant.

Noodles

Noodles

Tempura Udon (Udon with fried prawn and fried vegetables) – I didn’t get to taste this. The eater told me it tasted normal, nothing special.
Tori Yaki Ramen (fried ramen with chicken) – I didn’t get to taste this too. The eater told me it tasted below average and tasted a bit sour because of the vinegar added.
Kaisen Yaki Ramen (fried ramen with seafood) – it was sour! The more you eat, the more sour it tastes! It was because of the vinegar added too.

Bento

Bento

Unagi Bento (eel), Shake Bento (salmon), Tori Teriyaki Bento (chicken), and Saba Bento (mackerel) – all bento came with chawanmushi, rice, 2 slices of raw salmon, 2 slices of raw white tuna, and 2 slices of fruit.

My Review (5 points as full):
Environment and settings (2.5): The furniture arrangement was not well organized, not full used of the space. There were few flies in the shop during my visit.
Services (2.0): Because of the poor furniture arrangement, waiters cannot reach certain places to serve food to the customer. We have to pass the food from 1 person to another until it reached the person who ordered the food. Besides, the waiters didn’t clean all the plates after we have finished our meals. They only cleaned few plates and left most of the plates on the table. Slow food serving also a problem. Age gyoza came after 1.5 hours passed. 2 bento didn’t come after 1.5 hours passed that is why you can see in the above photo, the 2 bento were packed and taken away home to eat.
Food (3.0): Some food tasted average, some below average, and some tasted light. Overall, it was a bit below average.
Price (3.5): All those food cost around RM200 in total. Just avarage.

I have heard people talking about NZX for quite some times and I decided to go there and have a look. On my way, I thought I took the wrong road because it was located kind of in depth of housing areas.

What event is on? Festive Fun~tasy! Here goes some photos of the setting:

My sister’s meal contained of forest mushroom soup, iced lemon tea, oven roasted chicken chop with daily vegetable, and cake of the day.

My Review (5 points as full):
Environment and settings (4.0): Nice and unique. But first floor was a bit hot. It won’t be comfortable to sit for long because of the chair.
Services (4.0): Food were serving fast. Waiter and waitress were friendly. But lacking of number of waiter and waitress may test customers’ level of patience.
Food (2.5): Food decoration was nice but the taste was lacking behind.
Price (4.0): The price for set meals were kind of cheap. Set 1 cost RM16.90 and Set 2 cost RM18.90.

Book, Coffee & Me

Here is the next location for my next book that I mentioned in previous post – Dome Cafe! It is located in the Curve, Mutiara Damansara. Yes, the Curve again!

This is where they make coffees

Here goes the menu! It serves breakfast, soups, salads, sanwiches, hot kitchen specials, cakes, cookies, chilled beverages and of course, coffees!

The Menu

I have had tea yesterday so I tried coffee today. I ordered a new coffee in the menu, Flavoured Latte (Vanilla) instead of caramel because caramel would be a bit too sweet for me. A single shot of espresso with steamed milk and flavoured with a dash of rich creamy vanilla flavour.

I have my meal too. I ordered Lamb Stew with Cashew Nuts, which is a new item in the menu. It contains of lamb stew (spicy), cashew nuts, rice, and broccoli. Guess which one taste the best? The broccoli! Haha!! I don’t like this dish because I don’t like the spices used in preparing this dish. The taste of the spices covered up all the taste of the food.

As I read kept reading my book (My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult), I got myself another coffee – Vienna (White). It is a single shot of espresso topped up with hot water and fresh whipped cream on the top with a dusting of chocolate.

I haven’t finish reading the book. Maybe I will go to another cafe tomorrow to read the book? If it is so, I guess I can fill this blog with food and beverages posts because I have many books waiting for me to read! If it is so, guess I will become more and more chubby!

So, where would be the next location? Until then, see ya!

Note: I prefer tea than coffee.

Winter Warmers Coffee & Tea House

Today I went to Winter Warmers Coffee & Tea House in the Curve, Mutiara Damansara. It has the English style of environment (refer to the photo below). I went there to have my tea and reading! Thanks to sweetie Zu again for telling me there are some nice places in the Curve for reading.

Here goes the menu! It served a variety of English Teas and also pasta, sandwiches, cheese bake and waffles. Let see what I have ordered!

From the menu: Afternoon Tea for 1

From the menu: Afternoon Tea for 1

I ordered afternoon tea for 1! It contains of sandwich, scone, cake, cookies, slices of fruits, and a pot of black tea. I pick Darjeeling for the black tea. It tastes nice (sweet cooling aftertaste)! It has the fruity and floral aroma! No wonder it is called as the champagne of teas.

My Book and the Earl Grey tea

My Book and the Earl Grey tea

As I sat there reading my book for hours, I ordered another pot of tea – Earl Grey. The aroma of bergamot orange is kind of strong and I don’t really like that aroma. I get to finish reading my book there for about 5 hours. It is an interesting book and I have to say thanks to sweetie Zu again for introducing the book to me.

Where would be the next location for my next book to read? Mmm… Until then, see ya!
